Help Take Down the MikuHatsuneVEVO YouTube Chanel!

For some years now, a YouTube channel that is not affiliated with Crypton Future Media has been able to be called a VEVO channel for Hatsune Miku. It was even able to get verified despite not having any connection to Crypton. CFM has tried to take action and convince YouTube to take down the channel, but so far they have done nothing. This is where we, as a community, step in.

Some may think that this channel is harmless, however it can have the potential to hurt CFM and Hatsune Miku’s look. According to Mikufan

The channel has a lot of power, despite being fake. It is already being used to spread fake information on copyright ownerships and supposed “official” mashups, such as the Sand Planet feat. Nicki Minaj video. With that kind of power, whoever is operating the channel could upload content potentially harmful or disastrous to Crypton Future Media’s image, and their respective properties. In this case, Hatsune Miku. This is something that should be prevented.

What Can You Do?

The best way to help would be to report the channel to YouTube.

Directions:

  1. Click here to go to the reporting page
  2. Select: “This channel is impersonating a YouTube channel I follow or am familiar with”
  3. Enter the URL of the channel being impersonated: https://www.youtube.com/user/HatsuneMiku/
  4. Click “continue” on both links imputed
  5. Optional: select a video on the channel for YouTube to review. We suggest their recent one: Miku Hatsune - Sand Planet ft. Nicki Minaj
  6. Finally, you will be asked to give an explanation as to why this channel should be reported under “additional notes.” We suggest you say something along the lines of: Crypton Future Media, the respective Trademark holders of Hatsune Miku, filed a report against this channel, and YouTube ignored it. We, the users of YouTube, are taking action and assisting with reporting this channel for impersonation. However, please use your own wordings so YT doesn’t think this is a bot.
  7. Hope YT makes the right decision

CFM is currently investigating with VEVO on this matter, but hopefully the community’s voice will speed things up.
