When people use the “ah but whose the first people you ring when you’re being broken in to” argument to defend the police - not the police? Not anymore. They don’t fucking turn up. They come round 3 days later and go sorry there’s nowt we can do.
A lass I knew is living with life changing injuries cos they had their jaw broken on a night out, and they had the piece of shit on CCTV, but police wouldn’t take it to court cos “he’ll just deny it”
Police don’t really solve crimes: “In the 12 months to March, 7.8% of offences saw someone charged or summonsed, down from 9.1% a year ago.”
Meanwhile in Canada…
A woman solves the theft of her own property and gets proof the people who took her things still have them in their house. She turns over the completely solid evidence to the police.
The police say thanks, then manage to break the evidence so badly they can’t even talk to the thieves about the property.
If it hadn’t happened to the reporter, no one would ever have known.
And if the police are that unwilling to help people who can get their incompetence onto the national news, why would they help anyone at all?
I might call the police but if and only if I needed to do an insurance claim. And only if I could have witnesses in my home when the police arrived — I’ve already been physically assaulted by the police enough times.
