to elaborate: one of the main dairy foodstuffs produced by norse farmers in the viking era was a reputedly-delicious yogurt called “skyr.” if we assume that the “-im” suffix in “skyrim” is analogous to the english “-land,” we can (and SHOULD) reasonably conclude that “skyrim” translates to “yogurtland”
