Now, normally, I don’t bring up when people use “players” to mean “player characters” and vice versa. It’s usually clear which is meant from context, and no-one likes a pedant.
But in this context, I feel clarification is desperately needed.

Bring in new players. Tell them characters will be provided. Don't explain the different handwriting on each sheet. Don't explain why the carpet was just replaced.
