People are always like, “Lol, Link’s always distracted by his silly side quests! Hehe.”

But honestly, Link’s sidequests are a majority of why I love him so much. It’s what separated him from just being another monster killing warrior on a quest to kill the bad guy™. He doesn’t just destroy, he creates and helps people. 

Even seemingly mundane small quests like giving a lady fireflies when she’s depressed (actually, she’s grieving, spoilers), or delivering mail between a girl and her (*ahem*) “Moblin Boyfriend” adds a touch of humanity to a character you could justifiably mistake for lacking any. 

Taking time out of his quest to help lift the spirits of the people around him shows he doesn’t only care about the country surviving, but the individual people’s quality of life too. The side quests aren’t just there to distract him, but to show us he’s ACTUALLY a hero, with a (perhaps too much so) heroic heart to go with his sword.

 He’s NOT just an ever reincarnating warrior following a set of instructions laid out before him: Link actually loves the people around him.
