Autistic peoples “value” isn’t determined by how smart they are or what they can contribute to capitalism or whatever. I’m so tired of seeing campains that are trying to prove our humanity by talking about how some of us are “actually really smart!” or some shit. I don’t care. I don’t care about how many digits of pi that autistic kid can recite. Thats not what makes them a human being.

I’m autistic and I’m a high school drop out. I’m in a ridiculously low percentile for math. I haven’t completed freshman algebra. My working memory is absolute shit. I often have trouble sorting my mind enough to plan making breakfast.

And I matter. I’m human. I still deserve love and care. And so does someone that can’t tie their shoes. So does someone who can’t get dressed or use the bathroom on their own. So does every autistic person.

Autistic peoples lives matter regardless of how well they fit into an ableist standard of “intellegence.”
